When to use todo and quanto

One of the exercises has the phrase

They gave me all the bags they had.

The offered translation is

Deram-me quantos sacos tinham.

Wouldn’t the version

Deram-me todos sacos tinham.

be a closer translation?

@pwsteele, the meaning boils down to the same in both cases, but I agree that it’s more obvious to associate “all” with “todos”, instead of with “quantos”. Let me just note that when switching the words, the sentence also needs to be slightly adjusted: the second example should be “Deram-me todos os sacos que tinham” to be grammatically correct :ok_hand:

So, I guess the question is which version would be more likely used by a native speaker in casual conversation?
