Quote from Marcelo in Brasil

“Nada como um compasso de espera para o abraço ser maior”

What does this mean?

@Lawrence, “um compasso de espera” is a common Portuguese expression for a waiting period of no specific duration. I suspect, without having confirmed it, that this is musically related in its origin, since “compasso” is also our word for a musical measure/bar. Either way, what Marcelo meant in that context is that a longer period of waiting/absence just makes the eventual reunion that much sweeter (literally, “Nothing like a period of waiting to make for a bigger hug”).

In uk we say ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’. I think it is the same sentiment.
