Hi all, hope someone can help with this vital (to us) question, there are a couple of verbs, Colocar or Meter, that might fit the bill but what is the correct way to say this?
We are at an early stage in learning portuguese and need to know this so we can build it in to our daily life. As in ‘put the kettle on, I’m parched!’

Olá, @hedleyad. Your question is very British-coded, indeed 
I don’t think there’s any comparable expression we’d use in daily life. But you can make it more concrete and simply ask specifically for tea. Anything like “Podes fazer chá?” or “Não queres fazer chá?” (assuming a casual context here).

Ola, Joseph, obrigado. As we are hoping to live in Portugal in the future we will just have to keep that one between us then - we say “Put the kettle on” or “I’m going to put the kettle on”, to which the time honoured reply is “not without a chin-strap”.
