É 1h13 … another way to say

Is it acceptable to speak this as “é a uma e treze da madrugada” in the unlikely event that i need to yell at someone keeping me awake?

Yes, you can say any of the following:

  • É uma e treze da madrugada
  • É uma e treze da manhã

Thank you. I take it that the “e a uma” is also OK. I practice speaking with Google Translator, which cannot understand “é uma”. Portugal seems to drop the definite article

Obrigado.

Sorry for not being clear x) We would not use a definite article at all here (i.e. it’s not omitted; it’s really not there). Just “é uma”. This applies to all Portuguese variants. So, you should just consider the two options in my previous post.

Aha! Google Translate is WRONG then! Thank you for the clarification.
