There is never a shortage of possibilities when it comes to what content we should produce next, but I thought we could let our forum community chime to help us balance all of our different priorities when it comes to audio (Shorties/Podcast) and video production.
What are your preferences? Feel free to respond to some or all of the following, or other factors that come to mind:
format (audio vs video)
duration
videos: vertical shorts/reels or longer form, wide videos? In other words, instagram / TikTok first, or YouTube/website first?
focussed (more scripted, around a single topic) vs spontaneous conversations
what are your favourite topics we should cover, or which ones do you think are still lacking in our archives?
video: outdoors (varying scenery) vs indoors (consistent environment)
Let us know what recent videos of ours you’ve been enjoying most too, since we have been experimenting a lot and social media stats don’t necessarily align with what our actual members need from us.
Thanks for your continued support and your time in reading/replying!
Hi!
I’m a big fan of long format and more casual, non-scripted podcast-like type of content. It can be you and Rui talking about whatever for 3 hours
Preferably around B2-C1 level. Personally I prefer to turn on some audio and listen to it while eg doing some chores, so any short videos that you have to constantly switch are not my preference.
Thanks for the feedback! Is your comprehension good enough that you understand most of the episode, or is your approach relaxed enough that you can just mentally “let go” of whatever you don’t understand? Great work forcing yourself to give in the deep end with long-form content!
Yeah, my level is good enough to understand most of it. Then some C1 level grammar and vocabulary is challenging enough not to disrupt the enjoyment of listening but offers something new to learn.
I’ve been enjoying your YouTube videos recently
I really enjoyed and got a lot out of your recent video walking in Areeiro, pointing out street furniture and shop vocabulary but also a conversation with spontaneity. At that length, it’s okay to watch several times and note different things. You could do a series of these in different types of places - a park, a train station, a beach, a shopping centre - pointing out the vocab. It would be good to list the vocab at the end of the video in English and learners could pause it and see what they remembered.
Whilst I’m not ready for 3 hours of C1 dialogue (!), I did like the short unscripted pieces that were done recently in the trade fair. Lots of new voices, some background noise, and some genuine ums and errs, all made for a more realistic learning experience.
I guess I’m saying that more unscripted content of every level would be welcome.
