Traditional Lisbon Neighborhoods

Although a long time listener of Practice Portuguese I had missed/forgotten the appearance of the discussion area. Nice touch.

I have an upcoming trip to Portugal and on this trip, one option I’m considering is to spend a few days in an apartment outside the city center or main tourist areas. I’d like to look for something like an AirBNB in a traditional Lisbon neighborhood. So far I’ve looked a bit at Campo de Ourique and am planning to look at opportunities in Ajuda.

What suggestions do you have for these type of neighborhoods.

Thanks.

I love staying in Alfama. A lot of locals and the neighborhood is a lot of fun to navigate. Airbnb rentals seem to be creeping in more and more, but that hasn’t been a problem experiencing the culture and people.
