Actually, the Shortie title “Se o Teu Pai Fosse Rei” would be more accurately translated into English as “If Your Father WERE King” – using the subjunctive mood, since it expresses a wish for something that isn’t (yet) true.
I’m of the opinion that if we practiced using the subjunctive mood with more accuracy in our native language (in this case, English), then it would be less disruptive to encounter it in Portuguese (or any other language). An argument for a high level of training in our primary education!
