What is the correct pronunciation of “-ei” in the words “gostei”, “falei”, “falarei”, etc??

For example, for the word “gostei”…

Do we say “gos-tay” (as in the word ‘stay’’) OR

Do we say “"gos-tie” (as in the word ‘untie’) ??

@sfaznpinoy, it depends on the regional accent. “Gos-tie” is not really used. “Gos-tay” (as in ‘stay’ or ‘day’) is valid, for example, for many northern accents. “Gost-uh-ee” is valid, for example, for the Lisbon region accent (the one you’ll hear the most across Practice Portuguese materials).
