Hi. I’ve noticed that I have been spelling the Portuguese for apple (maçã) incorrectly.
I have been writing uma maça which, in fact, means a club or mace.
What is the difference in pronunciation?
Olá, @patrickmcmahon5544. Maça is pronounced exactly like massa: stress on the first syllable, with a very open A. The stressed syllable of maçã is the last one and both As are medium (on top of that, the last A is nasal, like the ã in não).
