Pronouncing como and come

Is there a difference in how como and come are pronounced? In the PP exercises I sometimes hear a slight difference in how the first “o” is pronounced but I don’t know if there’s a specific rule being followed or if it’s just a matter of who’s speaking. In most examples, the second “o” is never pronounced, or is just a brief poof of air.

Yes, they’re pronounced differently. The first O in como is medium, the second is closed ( European Portuguese Vowels - Pronunciation Guide | Practice Portuguese). In come, the O is open
