I heard idiomatic expression ‘pao pao queijo queijo’ but I am not sure what it means. Does it mean that things are much the same? Also can anyone share other common idioms please?

Yes, this is one of my favorite Portuguese sayings! Pão, pão; queijo, queijo means, it’s black and white, it’s perfectly clear, don’t confuse things.
There are a number of sources available on the internet for common sayings in Portuguese; my go-to source is Início - Ciberdúvidas da Língua Portuguesa for sayings common in Portugal. The website Dicionário Online - Dicionário inFormal is more for sayings in Brazil, but it is still pretty useful for Portugal, since many sayings are used in both places.
