Boas. My wife (who is a German citizen) and I (a US citizen and US Army veteran) emigrated from the US to Santa Cruz in April 2023. In the midst of taking care of our “must-do” things (getting a NIF, opening a bank account, getting our Saude number, getting our NHR, finding a Portuguese accountant, doctor, lawyer…) we also wished to learn the language so we could (hopefully) assimilate more easily and more fully enjoy the experience of being and living in this beautiful country. While just starting this program, I am very pleased with it so far. If anyone here is near or coming to Santa Cruz (we are on the coast between Ericeira and Peniche), I’m happy to meet for a meia de leite, cerveja our vinho and practice our Portuguese. Tchau, Jose
