Depois de completar algumas lições,
gostaria de explicar brevemente
porque é que estou a fazer isto a mim próprio.
Já passei vários invernos em Portugal com a minha mulher
viajando na nossa autocaravana.
Evitamos o Algarve, preferindo as albufeiras e barragems mais a norte.
Durante anos, limitei-me a ler os jornais diários -
aos bocadinhos e de vez em quando.
Agora que conhecemos alguns amigos e conhecidos
em diferentes regiões do país,
incomoda-me cada vez mais
ter de apoiar as nossas conversas em inglês e francês.
Por isso, agora quero chegar ao ponto
de conseguir exprimir-me com frases simples em português.
O que eu aprecio neste curso online é
a variedade de frases e palavras faladas.
Ajuda a minha compreensão oral.

Goal: communicate verbally in simple sentences
Hello colleagues
After completing a few lessons,
I’d like to briefly explain
why I’m doing this to myself.
I’ve spent several winters in Portugal with my wife
traveling in our motorhome.
We avoid the Algarve, preferring the reservoirs further north.
For years, I’ve confined myself to reading the daily newspapers -
in bits and pieces and from time to time.
Now that we know some friends and acquaintances
in different regions of the country,
it bothers me more and more
to have to support our conversations in English and French.
So now I want to get to the point where
I can express myself with simple sentences in Portuguese.
What I appreciate about this online course is
the variety of phrases and words spoken.
It helps my listening comprehension.
