No início, ao início?

Hi all,

I keep getting stuck on the difference between these two. It’s not quite clear in my head what the difference is.

For example:
1 - Comecei aprender o Português dois anos atras, e no/ao início, tive minto dificuldades com a gramática.
2 - No/Au início foi so uma curiosidade, mas agora estou apaixonado por … etc

First, if you don’t mind, let me correct your sentences.

1 - Comecei a aprender Português há dois anos atras, e no/ao início , tive muitas dificuldades com a gramática.
2 - No/Au início foi só uma curiosidade, mas agora estou apaixonado por … etc

Second, it’s always no início.
The difference is between EM and A but not in this case.
