Eu lavo... a loiça / os pratos

To say I wash the dishes, I have seen “Eu lavo os pratos” and “Eu lavo a loiça”.

One person said loiça is more general like everything ie dishes, silverwear, and pots whereas pratos means just dishes although in this context its understood to include everything kind of like loiça basically making these two things mean the same thing in this sentence. Is that correct?

@BCARL97 Yes, unless context suggests otherwise, we would assume that by “pratos” you mean “loiça” in general. Personally, I would still favor the word “loiça” (or “louça”) :slight_smile:
