But I need help/input to understand: por tanto de/ por isso de/ por causa de.
Do they pretty much mean the same?

Por causa de is the most direct translation for because of. Portanto and por isso are usually better translated as so / therefore (and in that sense, these two are interchangeable).
Sometimes, por isso may also translate as because of. For example:
- O carro dele avariou e ele está frustrado por isso. = His car broke down and he’s frustrated because of that.
