Atrás versus há

Ha 3 anos

Is it absolutely the same or what’s the difference?

@321dieters, há 3 anos and 3 anos atrás mean the same thing (3 years ago), but the former is preferred in European Portuguese, while the latter is preferred in Brazilian Portuguese. In European Portuguese, it’s also common to use the form há 3 anos atrás, even though it’s redundant and grammatically incorrect.
