Just as a note (especially those in the Lisbon area), Almada always has a big celebration on the evening of the 24 for the Dia da Liberdade, the day that the dictatorship was overthrown in Portugal in 1974. There are probably many celebrations. I just know that one here in Almada has two hours of music (usually by a fado musician) followed by fireworks and then two more hours of music in the Praça da Liberdade.
