We found out that many locals, who speak English very well, were eager to help us and help themselves. So the locals are welcome to our group, a way to make new friends, to ask questions about local vocabulary and traditions and assimilate into the culture. Our actual “practicing” portuguese only runs for about 30 minutes and gradually turns into just conversation while we enjoy drinks, snacks, and dinner.

I’m not sure I mentioned this but we formed a FB group called Portuguese Language Cafe and that’s where members and locals get the information.
